Unicom canellation rip-off

Not resolved

I am currently in the process of buying a house and I have had to move out of my flat to a hotel due to my term ending at the flat. I told my Internet provider to stop services on the phone line but I was happy to continue paying service fee's until the term of the contract ended or continue the service when I have moved into the new house.

Instead they decided to cancel the contract and want to charge me £300 for doing so, the contract has only about 6-7 months left on it and I have been paying it for over 2 years.

In this time they have charged me twice for the same bill and have had consistently slower speeds than their competitors. They did not believe me about their speed so I sent them a comparative report of their speed and another companies Internet speed within the same building. Funnily enough they did not respond.

I have offered them £50 as a settlement. Do not ever use this company!

After being stuck with unicon for 6 years because I was misled by customer services on how to end the contract 3 years ago, I wrote to universal utilities at the correct address ( you have to get this right other wise your letters get ruturned and your missed the 3 months deadline) 14 weeks before the 6th anniversary and had a letter back saying I still had to pay a termination fee of over £400 for 3 lines because of clause 8.3 which says " in the event of the agreement being termination pursuit to clause 8.1b or 8.1 c above then the customer shall pay to universal utilities a termination fee in the some equal to the following an administration fee of £100 plus a total amount that would have been payable inrespect of line rental or other select services for the remains period of the supply period had the supply period not Been terminated early because of the customers breach or insolvency plus 30 per cent of the customers estimated expenditure as set up over leaf for each of the remaining months of the supply period that would have occurred had the supply period not been terminated early because of the customers breach or insolvency"

Well they didn't keep to their contract which was to provide the fastes possible broadband.

The fact is that I didn't want to cancel the service, I was happy to keep paying and continue paying when I had moved. They cancelled the service not me. They even sent a letter saying that I have changed provider and that I cancled the contract therefore also a bunch liers.

Only someone who is so moronic that they probably couldn't hold down a job at Walmart would tell someone that they are in breach of a contract that they have no knowledge of.

Well if they did not provide the broadband speed that they should have then they are in breach of the contract. To be honest despite what nikalseyn has to say they should be a lot more flexible in view that you are moving

You apparently do not want to comply with the contract you signed. Take responsibility for your actions, stop whining and pay what you owe.
